IPL Hair Removal Technique

It's a common issue that women are having excessive hair growth on their faces that looks like a beard and make them weird and uncomfortable. Women try their best to get rid of excessive hair by shaving, plucking, and waxing.

Nowadays technology is making our lives easier with new techniques and gadgets, IPL is one of the best techniques for hair removal. IPL takes hair removal to the next level.

 IPL

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light System) is used for permanent hair removal. Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses an intense beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, a laser radiates a light that is absorbed by the stain in the hair. The light energy is transformed to heat, which damages the tube-like sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. It will inhibit or delays future hair growth. Common treatments include legs, armpits, upper lip, chin, and the bikini line. However, it's possible to treat unwanted hair in any area, except the eyelid or surrounding area.

During the procedure, treatment sensation varies from area to area and client to client. The laser creates an unproblematic experience for the client. Some heat or little flicker or snapping elastic band sensation can be felt and it is completely normal. Just make sure to shave before the treatment.

The hair color of skin and skin type influence the success of laser hair removal. The basic principle is that the pigment of the hair but not the pigment of the skin should absorb the light. The laser will damage only the hair follicle while avoiding damage to the skin. Then, a contrast between hair and skin color (dark hair and light skin) results in the best endings.

There are different stages of hair growth

1. Anagen (growing stage)

2. Catagen (transition stage)

3. Telogen, (resting stage)

When the laser is used to treat the area, all of the hair growth stages are targeted however only hair in the anagen, growth stage can be treated successfully. This is where the hair is attached to the blood supply and is most likely to be destroyed. The hair can be in any of 3 stages at any one time which means hair in anagen phase during treatment is likely to be from 10%-70% so not knowing which stage we catch it is recommended to have around 3-6 treatments 4-8weeks apart for the best results. The more sessions the more noticeable results will appear, the quantity of hair will be reduced in the handling area, hair will become finer and less pigmented, and eventually disappear.

 Side Effects of IPL :

Risks always vary with skin type, hair color, treatment plan, and adherence to pre-treatment and post-treatment care. After laser hair removal, some people feel these effects,

 Skin irritation.

A little discomfort, temporary redness, and swelling are possible after laser hair removal. Any signs and symptoms typically disappear within a few hours.

Laser hair removal might deepen or lighten the affected skin, usually momentarily.

Skin lightening.

Mostly affects those who don't avoid sun revelation before and after cure and those who have dimmer skin.

Redness of the skin is completely normal and should lessen within a few hours after cure.

 Safety Measures:

Stay out of direct sunlight some days before and after the treatment and use sunscreen daily. Avoid any sunblock that darkens your skin. Avoid other hair removal methods. Plucking, waxing, and electrolysis can disturb the hair follicle & should be avoided at least four weeks before treatment. You can exfoliate or shave the area again four days after treatment. Avoid blood-thinning medications. Shaving and trimming of the targeted area are recommended the day before laser treatment. It removes hair below the skin that can result in apparent skin damage from burnt hairs, it leaves the hair tube intact below the surface.
